Our European Adventure

This is where we will keep you updated about our experiences as we embark on our move to Germany.

We headed out to the MB museum this morning, it is only about 500 yards from our hotel.  It is a seven story building, that tells the story of the MB car from start to today.  You get a audio tour headset and controller and you head to the 7th floor, when you exit the elevator, you start to hear your tour.  As you progress around the circular building, at points it automatically starts to tell you about things.  There are also little dots that you point your controller at and it will tell you about a specific thing.  It took over 4 hours to complete, it culminated in a 4 floor showroom of all the current models, it was really cool.  There was a separtate section of the tour for police, trucks, busses, hearsts, etc and also one for racing.  We had a great time.

We went to the Volkfest, in Stuttgart, this is the Octoberfest but it is only called Octoberfest in Munich. The one in Stuttgart is the second largest after Munich. We went around and it was very similar to a state fair. We went into the beer tents, what a hoot, they were all up on the tables singing and drinking out of these really big beer glasses. It was really ccol, but you have to have a reservation to sit at a table and they make reservations this year for next year. There are plenty of beer stands around to have a nice cold one. The beer here is so good, I love the hefeweizen, Tracey has really been enjoying it. They had roasters roasting chickens and in one there was a whole cow on a spit. We had some great potato pancakes, and there were grapes and strawberries covered in candy apple coatings and chocolate. Damn was it good.

We have found a house, it is in Filderstadt-Plattenhardt, which is south of Stuttgart. It is a massionette apartment, around 130 sq Meters. It is two floors, the kitchen is small, but is very modern with Bosch Appliances. We are on the third and forth floor, with a view down over the valley. We are going to put our bedroom on the forth floor, it has some awesome views. There is a full bathroom on both floors. We have a nice deck off off the livingroom. Waiting for find out a move date.

Well after looking at a nice place and then two that were ok, but the location was scary we were off to our forth one of the day. We got there 45 min late, and the first impression was great. We went in and it was love at first site, the main room was large and open with several sliding class doors to the yard. Then on to the kitchen, the biggest of all the ones we have seen. Oven was a wall oven, refrigerator was a US one. just like ours only Stainless and built in microwave. Nice glass door to the outside in kitchen. Bathroom had a walk in shower. All rooms were very nice, with drapes that are neutral and stay. There was a large entertainment center in the LR, a wall unit desk in the office all that stay. One of the best parts is all rooms other than the bedrooms all have heated floors. The is an automatic gate to let you into the driveway and a 2 car garage with auto door off the driveway. Views from the house are beautiful. We have three more tomorrow, but ti will be hard to top this one.

We were off to look at houses this morning, the first one was small to say the least. 100sq meters, or 900 sq feet. Also on the fourth floor, it was a definite no go. She cancelled the next three houses since the size was not good. Off to a townhome which was 175 sq m, or 1750 sq feet, now we are talking. It was really nice three floors, four bedrooms and a basement. Top floor is an in-law suite. Tomorrow we will be looking at some others tomorrow.

Heading out to go househunting at 930am. Wish us luck! We both must have caught something on the plane, and it is killing us. We went out for a few hours yesterday to see the areas that I looked at a few months ago. Tracey liked them, so now we will get to see some of the homes. Check back later for a recap of the day.

We arrived after a long 9 hour flight from Atlanta. Neither of u were able to sleep on the plane. Got our car in Frankfurt and headed onto the Autobahn for the drive to Stuttgart. Tracey was out like a light in the car, checked in to the hotel and we both crashed. Had dinner and went back to bed. Tracey is not felling well, hope it is just jetlag. We are hopefully heading out today to see some of the city. The official house-hunting starts tomorrow.

Headed to Lake Tahoe on the weekend. Wow!!!!! Went up Heavenly Mtn., on the Gondola, it was such an awesome site. While up there, they had a zip line that takes you three thousand linear feet with a vertical drop of 500 feet at 50 MPH. Damn it was fun.

Tracey and I were able to take a Segway Tour of downtown San Fran after the Cisco Global Sales Meeting. It was a blast, got used to the Segways in about 15 mins and then had a great time riding on the tour for 2 hours all over the waterfront area. We went on the tour to get used ot riding them, so we can go on them when we are in Europe.
