We finally have all our stuff from the states, now we just have to unpack it all. We got alot of it done yesterday, but still have quite a few to go. We are waiting for our furniture to be delivered, takes 2-3 weeks. If some of you are wondering why we have not been on the net, we are waiting for our internet to be turned on, 3 weeks, should be 7 Jan 09 now. I have a data card for my laptop, but it is really slow and does not like Skype since it is so slow. If there is one thing you all can appreciate in the states is when you want something, you usually don't have to wait weeks to get it. Hope you all are well, we are going to find a hotspot on Sat or Sun to reach out to you. Talk to you soon, Chris and Tracey.
Just wanted to share a few photos taken from our Balcony. House is coming along. I have all the lights hung and we are cleaning. Our Air Shipment should be delivered on Tuesday and we will be able to move in. Check back often for more photos Click the title "First Snow" to be taken to the pics.
Tracey is feeling a little better, she is still feeling nausea, but not nearly as bad. I went to up to Heidelberg and met Tom and we headed out to buy some appliances for the new place. Coffee pot, tea pot, iron, microwave and can opener. It is almost the same to buy on the economy as it is on base with your tax exempt status. Currently you get .77 euros for one dollar, and it is falling, this is good news for us. Hoepfully Tracey will get better and we can go out on Monday to look for a freezer, TV and washer/dryer. There is a store called Media Markt, that is just like a Best Buy. Well check back for updates.
WOW! What a move it was. Tracey ate a turkey sandwich in the Airport in Atlanta and an hour after take-off started tossing her cookies. This lasted the entire trip. She had a ride in a wheelchair to the baggage area, where we waited patiently for our bags. They never showed up, a check with the airline revealed they were still in Atlanta. You would think that the bags would make their way to our plane in 2 hours. Luftansa says they will deliver them to Stuttgart. I call at 630pm and they state they are on there way from Stuttgart Airport. I hang up and the phone rings, it is the baggage people at the Stuttgart Airport, I must come to customs. I head out and when I arrive, I am advised of my rights for bringing two illegal knives into Germany. They confiscated the knives and I pay a 300.00 Euro fine and am on my way. Next day I check my bags and the other two knives are gone too. EXPENSIVE!!! 1000.00 worth of knives and 300 Euro fine. It is Friday and Tracey is still very sick. Had a fire alarm tonight and had to evacuate the Hotel for a 1/2 hour. Damn is it cold. This is a interesting start to our adventure. Stay tuned!
